Shima Farahani
Painter / Film Maker
Shima Farahani is a multidisciplinary artist known for her Surreal Realism paintings and experimental films. Self-taught from a young age, her early passion for storytelling and visual expression led her to pursue a Bachelor’s in Animation and Visual Effects, followed by a Master’s degree in Digital Film and Television.
Behind the Art
Rooted in personal experience and cultural memory, Shima’s work explores the layered dimensions of femininity, its beauty and its strength. Through bold color palettes and emotionally charged imagery, she creates dreamlike worlds that oscillate between melancholy and hope.
Born in Iran, Shima’s art is deeply influenced by the tension between freedom and suppression. Her visual narratives often reflect the quiet resilience of the feminine spirit in societies where it has been historically overlooked or diminished. Each piece is not just a reflection, but a poetic rebellion rendered in brushstrokes and frames.
